Sex doll owners share the reasons why a pandemic in the world forced them to buy an item at first.

 

COVID-19 has basically ruined the worldwide economy. Companies are shutting down, supply chains are interrupted... you've heard of everything. Also, certain industries have been hit in the stomach by corona viruses while others have seen an increase in sales. Anyone who's ever tried buying the latest equipment for home use is likely to be in the same boat.

 

Another area that's seen an upswing on sales are the sex-doll industry. "Since COVID, we've seen a substantial rise in the sales of our mini sex doll" Matt from online sex retailer Cherry Banana, told Vice recently. "We've increased Cherry Doll sales since March and we're now selling up to five dolls per week, which is 20-25 dollars a month."

 

"It's real," added Andrew from Sex Doll Australia. "Since the lockdown stage of hard locks of COVID-19's in Australia we've seen an increase in sales that ranges from 30-40 percent. The increase began in May, and has been continuing since when it was first announced."

 

This isn't only occurring in Australia. Reports of a rise in cheap sex dolls and toys have appeared from countries like the US, Italy, China, Germany... The list is endless. The stories feature quotations from sex toy manufacturers shops, shopkeepers and online retailers. They all offer interesting insights however, what about the buyers who actually made the purchases? We wanted to know more about them and so MTV Australia reached out to some owners of sex dolls who purchased a doll in lockdown time to discuss their latest purchase, contemporary affection, popular misconceptions and everything sex doll related.

 

MTV Australia: Hey Brandon When did you purchase your doll?

 

Brandon I bought my doll towards the close of June, around three months in lockdown. I decided to name her Heather without any reason I simply liked the name.
