Microsoft announces Office 2021

Two new versions from Microsoft are about to come later this year, Office LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) for commercial customers and a consumer Office 2021 version, announced Microsoft. One can get Office 2021 for Windows and macOS later this year, and similar to the Office 2019 launch, its designed for those who would prefer not to get the cloud-powered Microsoft 365 variants subscription.

Microsoft hasn't completely detailed all of the changes and features that will be coming with Office 2021, but the Office LTSC variant will consist of things such as accessibility enhancement, dark mode support, and features such as XLOOKUP in Excel and Dynamic Arrays. Also, Office 2021 will consist of similar features.     

Though, you shouldn't expect any major UI changes here. The dark mode is the visual change, but Microsoft is still focusing on most of its cloud-powered and interface features on the Office's Microsoft 365 versions first. Office LTSC is Microsoft's clear recognition that not each business customers are prepared to move to the cloud, however.  

Currently, Office LTSC will just be supported for a very long time rather than the seven that Microsoft has regularly offered for Office. Pricing for Office Standard, Office Professional Plus, and individual applications is additionally expanding 10% for commercial clients, with small business and the Office 2021 buyer pricing remaining the same.

Head of Microsoft 365 Jared Spataro said that it's simply an issue of attempting to meet clients where they are.
